TIGER KLOOF LEARNER PART OF LUIPERDS RUGBY TEAM

Garreth Shabalala of Tiger Kloof Combined School was selected to play as wing in the under 16 Leopards Platteland rugby team that took part in the VKB rugby tournament that was held at Frankfort from 2 to 5 July 2017.

Interview with Garrath Shabalala

1. Can you tell us about yourself and where you come from?
- I'm a passionate hardworking person from Thabazimbi in Limpopo.

2. You are a sports person. Can you tell us what motivated you to play sports or Rugby.
- When I was in the Primary, rugby was seen as a 'white' sport and not a lot of black kids tried it. When I was in Grade 3, I decided to join and see what people are afraid of.

3. Which position are you playing and are you comfortable with it?
- I have played other positions before, but now I play wing. That position needs a fast person and I am comfortable with it.

4. So are you fast?
- I'm not fast. I'm VERY fast!

5. How can you encourage other youths who want to reach the level you have reached in rugby or other sports?
- I don't usually motivate people but I would say that you have to have faith and believe in yourself.

6. Where to from here?
- I might just make it a career. I'm still thinking about it.

Good luck for the future Garrath! You are making TK proud!
